I like to tell people that my hobby is collecting hobbies. So you will find to your delight or your dismay that this blog is actually destined to be a metablog ( look that one up in your Funk and Wagnalls).
My initial focus will be on 3 diverse areas of interest. The first is Family History. The second is Wood Carving. And the 3rd is Machine Intelligence. That should give you a sense of the never-ending scope of topics that attract my attention.
As with almost all of my hobbies and diversions, each of these demands that you grow in a number of different directions, all at the same time. As we explore and expand on these topics, you will discovery, just as I always do, that there is much more to be learned than you ever expected. Those twists and turns in my (and your) journey are what make things challenging and extremely enjoyable. Nothing is ever boring if you apply your creativity to it.
Well, it is late here in Austin, Texas and I have to hit the road early in the morning. My first stop tomorrow is in Tomball, Texas to see if Dallas Degee can teach me anything about carving whimsical houses out of cottonwood bark. Then I am headed to southeast Houston to visit 4 of my grandchildren. I almost forgot. My other 2 grandchildren will be there, too. So I have a busy weekend ahead.
In closing, I just want to say -
Thank you, Linda J., for all the great hugs you've given me over the years.
I'll explain that last comment in my first expedition into the world of Family History.
Russell
